What do you know about Detox? Have you ever tried doing it? Detoxification is a process that helps your body cleanse from toxins.
Where do toxins come from?
Toxins come from two sources: normal cell activities produce waste products AND human-made toxins, that result of the environment, water, and food.
Why do we need to care?
Our body is a sophisticated machine, perfectly capable of doing a lot of work itself – and it does just so. However, because of the exposure to environmental toxins, chemically based products and processed foods, it all interferes with the body’s regular cleansing function. Higher levels of toxins normally are caused by bad diet, stress, overeating, poor health habits, and sedentary lifestyle.
Every step we take toward healthy lifestyle (no matter how small it seems), we help our body’s natural functions. That’s one more reason to be a part of Mamavation community – we will keep reminding you why it’s important to eat well every day stay healthy for life.
This week I asked Mamavation Moms this question:
With 4 week of Mamavation Bootcamp behind you, what have you learned so far?
Laura: With four weeks behind us the nutritional choice I will never make again is to not plan my meals in advance. That is to say that I will continue to plan my meals in advance. I will not let my cupboards be bare and I will not wait until I am starving to eat. I have learned to plan everything in advance, even if it is making a plan at the beginning of the day. It has really helped me stay on top of my nutrition when I am careful about planning. It does take some time and I am not yet perfect, however it gets easier every day!
Lolo: With 4 weeks as a Mamavation Mom behind me, I have learned few things – I have learned to never skip breakfast. I feel better and have so much more energy if I eat something first thing in the morning. I have also learned to make sure I have my snacks and meals prepared. When I am prepared with healthy choices I am not tempted to make the wrong one. Another thing that I learned was to get rid of the diet coke and drink water, water, water. My body has really thanked me for it.
Andrea: After 4 weeks, I’ve definitely acquired a taste for different foods. I know that I will never again eat anything fried. Not only does it hurt my stomach, I know how bad it really is for you. Another thing I will be staying away from is soda. I was a Diet Coke addict for so many years. Finding out exactly what soda does to the body made that choice easy.
Special Guest: Katie Schmidt
After her dad passed away from colon cancer, Katie started her journey of detoxing her whole life. She committed to eat only wholesome foods and use only all natural organic cosmetics. She also discovered that there are many toxins that can be avoided. Katie didn’t only get rid of the toxins she was ingesting, but she also started paying attention to toxins we absorb through the skin on a day to day basis.
