This has been a long week for me, but I didn’t let that stop me from kicking butt and reaching my goals! On wednesday I had a spinal tap that was suppose to only have 12 hour recovery time aka I should have been fine by thursday morning but that is far from the way that things went. I pretty much spent wednesday thru saturday afternoon in bed. It was not fun, I felt horrible. On top of all of that, they put me on some new meds and of course had to come with lovely side effects. Again, I am not letting anything get in my way. I am determined to make the most of this campaign!
I got my meal plans from Alyssa (@InspiredRD) and for the first time was excited to go grocery shopping. There was a plan & healthy items on my list. There was no temptation to throw the chocolate or chips in the cart. Not because I knew I had a ton of people watching me, counting on me but because for the first time in a very long time they didn’t sound good. I also have been watching Pete’s videos on Weight Loss Guru & have been following his tips. Before I eat something I have been thinking “is this food going to give me energy or take it away”. Obviously I didn’t have to ask myself that question about chips or chocolate because the answer was obvious. Also taking a moment to think about that, has eliminated the quick impulse of putting what may have sounded good in the cart. Another amazing tip from Pete is … the number of times you chew your food. I never would have thought that putting down my utensils and chewing a particular number of times, then taking a breath before taking another bite. It really does make a difference in how much you eat!
When I stepped on the stepped on the scale this week so Adam could snap the picture for me, I couldn’t look down. I had my eyes closed and was afraid of what the number was going to be. I wasn’t able to get my workout done everyday, some days I had to get it done in sections due to my spinal headache & I didn’t get my 10,000 step goal in all week. I was feeling disappointed in myself and like I wasn’t going to have a loss this week. I got the ultimate surprise …
If you noticed the number on my scale picture this week you might notice that it starts with a ONE not a two!! Believe me, I was as shocked too! I didn’t open my eyes until I heard Adam gasp. I quietly asked him “what does it say?” and when he said 195.4 I was anything but quiet! I had reached my immediate goal of being under 200 pounds and I had a loss this week, when I didn’t think I would. Not only did I have a loss this week … I had a SEVEN pound loss this week! On a bad week, on a week where I probably felt my worst.
Through it all I was able to make healthy food choices, find new snacks/foods that I didn’t know I loved, and most of all push myself & proved to myself how freaking awesome I can be when I put my mind to something!
