So Long Fat Girl!

When I decided to apply for this campaign, I had set a goal for myself. I wanted to loose a total between the pledging/hazing portion and if I was chosen during the 7 week bootcamp of 25 pounds. Seemed like a reasonable goal, but on the other hand I didn’t want to set myself up for disappointment either.

As I was re-reading my first post as a Mamavation Mom I read this statement that I had written only a few weeks ago  ”Take a good look, because by October 15th you will see pictures of a new woman. A woman who has even more confidence, a skinnier body & much better pictures to show off!” I can honestly tell you that the girl who said that 5 weeks ago had no self confidence and wore hoodies and jackets to cover her body. That girl couldn’t take a compliment from her husband or anyone else, because she has such negative perception of herself. That girl would have easily avoided the gym or pool because there was other people around. That girl is not who I am today! I have more confidence then I think I have ever had, I definitely have more confidence then I did when I was a size 2.

This has not been an easy journey, but if I can do it then so can you. If I let all of the potential hurdles or difficulties that are a part of my daily life get in my way, then I would still be that fat girl sitting on the couch. I would still be the girl who hates her body and what it’s become. I needed to make a change, so I did.

You are reading a post from a former fat girl who can now run some of her best running times, out run her kids in a game of tag and out swim her husband in the pool. A former fat girl who no longer needs her inhaler, no longer needs to worry about diabetes, who no longer has to worry about high blood pressure and who’s family history is haunting her a lot less. Looking in the mirror I no longer see a fat girl. I see a woman who has changed her life and is improving her family’s life. I see a girl who smiles a lot bigger and brighter now. Stay tuned in this post to see that brighter smile!

One thing very important thing that I have learned from this experience is that a size that you wear or the number that pops up on the scale does not define who you are. I may have more confidence in myself but believe it or not it’s not because I have lost a lost of weight in the past few months. It’s because I have proven to myself that I can do this. I DID THIS.

Ok so I have kept you in suspense long enough … In case you missed last night’s #Mamavation TV show, you might not have heard that I have lost 10.2 pounds this week. Did you hear that 10.2! I cried when I saw my new weight number pop up …. 171.2!! My goal for this campaign was to be under 200 pounds and hopefully loose 25 pounds. To date, I have lost ….. 41 pounds & 25″!!! It’s an amazing feeling, especially since we are having our family pictures taken in a couple of weeks! I will be proud to hang those on the wall!

One thing that I have done as a #Mamavation Mom that I didn’t do before is have a daily goal of 10,000 steps a day! I was lucky enough to get a pedometer from Omron Fitness (@OmronFitness) that has really helped me to know how many steps I am getting in each day! One very cool thing about this pedometer is it will track how many aerobic steps you have taken, how many calories you have burned and how many miles you have gone. I needed something simple and user friendly with such a crazy hectic life! One other very cool feature … It resets on it’s own at midnight! So little fingers can’t reset it on accident! Very nice feature for mommas!

10,627 steps in one day!

You may be wondering how I get 10,000 steps in …. It sounds like a lot to get it but it can go really quickly! I have been doing a lot of running, I have done zumba, going for walks with Adam & the kids, but one of my most favorite ways to get in some extra steps in to have a dance party with the kids! Nothing is better then that! Tell me some of your favorite ways to get steps in! Thank you  Omron Fitness (@OmronFitness) for my amazing pedometer!

Thank you so much to our amazing sponsors and leadership team ….
