Nutiva is an amazing brand that has really put their “balls” out there for the GMO movement. Nutiva sells coconut, hemp and chia products. Their best selection can be found on their online store. Not all natural foods brands were willing to support the GMO labeling movement…yes, even the organic ones. Sounds crazy, huh? I thought that would be a no brainer for most in the industry UNTIL I learned why.
When the Grocers Manufacturers Association came out in their annual meeting stating their #1 focus was to defeat the GMO labeling initiative in California, that was a HUGE statement. Without saying it, they were threatening all the organic and natural food brands to stay away. Now why would this matter to them? Aren’t the organic brands going to fight for labeling? Well, the organic food moment has been growing leaps and bounds, BUT they are all still a business and have been growing because conventional grocery stores have been putting their products on their shelves as the demand for natural foods grow. If you can’t get the product on the shelf, you don’t’ sell as much product. And what’s to stop grocery stores from replacing food companies that took a political stand during this movement with ones that didn’t get involved. *gasp* It’s all business. As is life.
So here’s my idea. Social justice and loyalty from the best kind of consumers–moms. As moms who are feeding our families, let’s reward the brands that DID get involved. They took a chance on us. It was a gamble. A big gamble. The stood up for what’s right understanding that the risks were huge. And one brand in particular who really put their “balls” out there was Nutiva. John Roulac, the CEO of Nutiva, is someone I admire. He a brilliant geeky guy wearing hemp clothing with a mission to provide REAL healthy food to the masses. He’s a champion. He’s a hero. And I’ve met him personally, so I tell you this from experience.
Nutiva is starting up their Recipe Kitchen, but they need help from moms. They need recipes. And they are willing to give moms free products so you can go into your kitchens, experiment with REAL healthy food, and make something amazing dishes. I’m encouraging John to get more involved with bloggers and he really wants to BUT we need to show him an example of our power first. Moms kick ass. We all know that. Let’s show him what we can do in social media. Let’s get other moms on board supporting his brand because THEY DESERVE OUR LOVE AND LOYALTY. They fought for us and continue to fight for us against the giant food companies that do NOT have our best interests at hand. Let’s show them what happens when they decide to work with moms in social media.
I’m proposing you sign up for FREE Nutiva products and create recipes with a picture and post them on their site. And then John and I will choose two recipes per month that will win $200 cash via paypal from me. We are doing this for January and February. So there will be a total of 4 winning recipes winning $200 a piece.
This is a win-win. You’ll get free healthy products. You’ll get to experiment with healthier food and share that with your family. You’ll have a chance to win cash. AND you’ll be supporting a brand that really deserves it.
Fill out this form if you are interested. If you are selected you will receive an email with more instructions and information on how to access “the kitchen.” Thanks everyone!

This is awesome! I just bought 25 lbs. of their coconut flour and it just arrived today. I am doing a 21 day sugar detox and then going full Paleo, so this is absolutely perfect!
LOVE this I love cooking and coming up with cool tasty recipes
I’ve already been looking into turning the Nutiva coconut products into an amazing cake inspired by the Girl Scout Samoas cookies!
Please, pretty please, pick me!
When they say recipes, how many do they expect, and in exchange for how much in product? And, do they expect a full review on our blog also?
They are only asking for one recipe on their Recipe Kitchen. Promoting it would be appreciated. On your own blog would be a bonus and very much appreciated as well, but not part of the agreement.
I love it. I haven’t used their products but I use similar stuff and I enjoy taking normal recipes and ” healthifying” ( so not a word but i’m going with it)
just did one last night!!!
Love love LOVE this idea. I’m working on going cleaner and cleaner – it helps having a dairy allergy in the house! I would love to work on some of their products. I’ve created recipes for sites before, and I love to cook. Which is why I have the awesome smell of roasting squash, garlic and onion in my house tonight – roasted butternut squash soup for dinner, yum! I love that they are GMO free and have products I haven’t used before. I’m working on getting more coconut into our diet, and I need to investigate and work on hemp and chia. Awesome idea, Leah!
This sounds like an awesome opportunity! Been trying to find and introduce healthier and cleaner items into our household.
