Ready to go the distance: I’m a Mamavation Mom

My name is Jeanae. I am a wife, mom, worship minister, and writer. I waited until my late 20′s to get married, and until my mid 30′s to get pregnant. At the time, it made perfect sense. I got to see the world, experience everything that I could ever imagine, and then I could take the time to “settle down,” and have a family.  The surprise to this perfect plan was that my metabolism was nothing like it was in my earlier years, and I had no clue that I would experience great difficulties with the pregnancy, delivery, and recovery. I didn’t bounce back from the high-risk pregnancy, c-section, and subsequent surgeries and health issues. Fitness solutions didn’t come naturally to me, and I had no idea how to remedy my declining health and increasing waistline.

I spent most of my time juggling the many hats that are required to keep everyone else happy and well.  That combined with a prior stint in the cubicle jungle, also known as the day job, rendered me far too exhausted and stressed to make the time to care for myself.  After witnessing the illnesses and deaths of far too many loved ones, I made the concerted effort to make the time to love myself enough to focus on my health.

I am elated, and grateful, to be a Mamavation Mom because this gives me the opportunity to get my health and fitness back on track, with the proper focus, support and information.  I applied to be a Mamavation Mom because all of my other previous efforts to reach my desired health and weight failed.  Name the bootcamp or intense workout fad, and I probably completed them. Slowly but surely, I would return to my normal life, and whatever success that had been achieved faded away. It was a vicious, disappointing, and frustrating cycle!  Thankfully, I now have the proper tools, and most importantly, the attitude to make this a lifestyle change.

I am a shy person, so it was a stretch well beyond my comfort zone to apply to this campaign. Why would someone ever consent to sharing their weight, measurements, highs, lows, trials and triumphs with the outside world? As the old addage goes, if you want something that you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you have never done. I am here, and ready to go the distance.

I am grateful to Leah (@Bookieboo), as well as the trainers and support team, for welcoming me into the Mamavation Mom family. I am also honored to share this journey with my fellow Mamavation Moms Rebecca and Joanna.  I invite you to check back with us each week to witness our amazing 7-week transformation. This is going to be quite a ride!

Until next week, XOXOXO

Jeanae
