Holy Moly — 7 weeks have FLOWN by and just like I was shocked to be picked as a Mamavation Mom, I am shocked, and sad, that the time is almost over.
First, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you — for encouraging me on Twitter, following my journey and giving me someone to be accountable to. I have loved this experience, and I am so, so thankful that I was given the chance to improve my life through Mamavation.
I have learned so much this summer, and I plan on learning even more as the weeks go on.
As a family, we have made some big changed. The switch to Eco-Friendly cleaners was probably the biggest household switch. I’m still shocked that Jay is liking them. We are officially a cleaning chemical free house — all of our current products are healthier for us then what we had previously, and we have no intention of going back. I even think I may try my hand at making my own laundry detergent (wish me luck!).
We have also really changed our eating habit. While I was already following a pretty strict, whole foods diet, now the entire family is. Even Jay has come on board, and requested more veggies at each meal, and less meat (another huge shocker for me!). The kids have been helping me pick healthier versions of their favorite treats when we are at the market, and they have also been helping at home make healthier meals.
I have also been trying to get to the farmers market every week. The kids are loving trying new produce — one of our favorites this summer has been purple green beans. They are so good, and my son thinks they are magic because they turn green when you cook them
The absolute biggest change for me has been working out.
I have never been overly fond of sweating and I am super surprised that I have liked doing the workouts these past weeks. Especially the running! I haven’t run, without stopping, since I was a little kid. I am super proud that I can now run a mile non-stop, and I plan on continuing to run at least 3 times a weeks to improve my time and build up my stamina. Jay even said he would start running with me!
There are just so many good habits that I have picked up during this campaign, and just a wealth of information that I am so thankful to have learned.
So now for the big comparison … my before pictures
…. and after pictures.
(Okay – so I really didn’t notice the weight as much until I compared these sets of pictures, and I am super excited to notice that I have less back fat, and my stomach isn’t as pouchy)
Over these past 7 weeks, I have lost 3.1lbs and 10.5″!
My clothes are fitting better (my favorite tee shirt is actually too big now, and it was tight at the beginning of the summer) and I am looking forward to shopping for some new winter clothes — particularly pants!
