If There’s Smoke, Is There Fire?

Sometimes, the journey you plan on taking ends up getting detoured to a new place.

That’s kinda what’s been happening with me.  This  Mamavation mom Grad campaign has been differnt than what I thought it would be, but I’m choosing to look at it  as that I am still taking  steps forward, even if they are baby steps.  Moving forward is moving forward, right?

Finding a Spark

Know that part in the Hunger Games when Katniss and Peeta are holed up in the cave recovering from some really hard and exhausting things and gaining strength to go on? They knew they were in a bad place and that they needed to take some time to regroup and prepare to kick butt.

Yeah, we’re SO there.

For a bunch of reasons, it’s been hard for us to stick to the regime 100%.  At first I felt terribly guilty, but  now I’ve just owned that I screwed up, and I’m just pulling up my big girl panties and starting again! Mamavation is about real life, and we all know that it doesn’t always work out as planned! However, we also know that real life means  rearranging plans to make them work.  Here’s my weigh in!

Wendy's Weigh In 11/5

We’ve decided to make it a priority on  staying on track and  working HARD again! We are RISING!  Rising up from  where we’ve been back on FIRE!!!!

**As Mamavation Moms, we receive nutritional support and fitness product from Billy Blanks ,  Omron Fitness ,  New Balance , and  Inspired RD.   We thank these companies for their continued support. **

The Girls On FIRE!!

Yes, we are!!!  We are BURNING with the need to get back on track (Wendy) or continue on the right track (Rachel) and lose weight and get healthy!

Unlike Katniss, we are not running AWAY from anything, but  we are running toward things- good health,  weight loss, inces gone. and  looking  as ass kicking as she did in that fire suit… well not really but , maybe! :)

Instead of hand to hand combat, we have Billy Blanks DDS to kick our butts.  Instead of roasted squirrels we catch ourselves in a snare, we have Alysa’s guidance on how to eat healthy to lose weight.  We didn’t have to grab a bag at the cornucopia to get awesome sneakers or pedometers, but we will have to reach some goals to get them . THIS is not a game that we do not know… we have played this one before… Rachel was a Mamavation Mom in Campaign 13, and Wendy in Campaign 12.  The excitement, the stress, the fun, the exhaustion still is FRESH in our minds.  And yet, we signed up for more!

We are playing our own Hunger Games.

We’re not hungry for food, but for MORE!

More weight loss, inches gone, toning  up, more support, more GOAL SETTING AND SMASHING!

This is  Wendy-  who kinda lost her way after her campaign and got off track.   But this Graduate campaign is EXACTLY what she needed to get going again!

This is her before pic:  and scale:

“unofficial” Starting  weight: 247.8

Rachel has ROCKED her goals and is looking forward to meeting more!

Starting weight: 212

Today’s weight 164.6

weight lost 47.4 pounds!

We’re excited to be part of the Mamavation Graduated campaign and this opportunity to kick butt again!   Come watch us MELT away the pound and inches during the next 7 weeks!

Making Goals and CRUSHING them!

I can’t believe that my  time as Mamavation Mom is coming to an end.  I am SOO close to reaching my goal of losing 20 pounds:  I have lost  18.2 pounds!  But even more exciting to me is the inches  that I have lost:  to date I have lost 24.35 inches.

24.25 inches!

Do you see a difference?

What can I say about being a Mamavation Mom?  This:

I had goals- attainable goals for this campaign.  I had already made some goals and  crushed them: no soda, drink lots of water, no sweetener in my  coffee, walk,  eat clean, but this time I had a goal of 5 pounds at at time- and that is how I’m going to meet my long term goal. 5 pounds at a time.

I am SO thankful to all the wonderful sponsor that we’ve had for this campaign:

New BalanceOmron Fitness, and Earth Footwear. Each one is playing a huge role in our goal to get active and healthy!

Also a Huge Thank you to all the Coaches:
Leah @BookieBoo, Alysa @InspiredRD, Pete  @PeteCohen_, and Mark @MrBookieboo.

Special THANK YOU to our mentors, Lolo and Andrea, and Shannon  and Shelley, as well!

Numbers are adding up!

Week 6!!  WOW!    The whole campaing has been FLYING by and I can’t believe we’re nearly done! I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work and it’s showing!

Oh, YEAH, it does!  Total weight loss so far?  17.4 pounds!

It’s just a great week.  I’m feeling GREAT!! Sometimes there isn’t much more to say than that.

None of this would be able to happen without all the help we’ve receive.

Thank You to our sponsors for this campaign:

Impacting EVERYONE

It’s week 5!  How did that happen?  We just finished up  Memorial Day weekend  and it was a great weekend.

My daughter, Ally and I  participated in the Color Me Rad 5K and it was AWESOME!

I also got to meet Mamavation Sista Sarah!  loved MEETING A SISTA!

I have 2 scale pics this week- I’m moving over to my Omron Scale which weighs me in at .4 pounds higher than my old scale.  I’m claiming my 13.2 pound weight loss so far!

One of the coolest things about this week is that I  took out my old summer clothes from last week…and most of them do not fit!  I’m super excited about that!

All in all a great week!

I love being part of this campaign, and I love all the help, love and support we are getting! Especially from New Balance, Omron Fitness, InsiredRD, Weight Loss Guru, Earth Shoes and of course, my Mamavation community Plus my awesome Mentors Lolo, Laura, and Andrea, not to mention my partner in crime, and Mamavation Mom cohort, Hanan!

AND

Congrats to the Bookieboo family on their newest addition! WELCOME STEPHEN!

Small Steps and BIg Changes

I can’t believe that we are nearly  halfway done  with Campaign 12!  I’m learning so much and really noticing differences in  my life… and my body!  In fact, I have lost 13.2 pounds, and 8 inches since I applied to be a Mamavation Mom!

Not every steps as a Mamavation Mom is small, in fact, it’s pretty intense, but they are changes that everyone can make:  east healthy,  exercise more, lean on friends for support, and find the tools that help you succeed: and that I’ve done!

One of the things I’m LOVING my new Omron Fitness Pedometer and Scale!    First of all my pedometer is my new best friend (or worst enemy if my steps are not high enough at night!) .  I check it around 7 and end up hoofing it around the block to get it all in.!   They also sent us this awesome scale- the Full Body Sensor that not only measures your weight, but  it also measures your body fat percent, your visceral fat level,  skeletal muscle percent, body weight, and  BMI.  Visceral fat is the hidden fat that hides in your abdomen and surrounds your vital organs- and this type of fat often goes undetected.  The more skeletal muscle you have the more calories you will burn, as muscle burns 22% of calories. I love having this tool at my toes to help me  lose weight!

Next week Ally and I are participating in Color Me Rad, a fun 5K that incorporated running and fun!  We’ll be  in Hartford for our first race together, and we are both super excited!   i can’t wait to show those photos!

None of these changes that I’ve been making would have been possible without  help-  and I’d love to say a great big THANK YOU  to our sponsors,: New Balance, Omron Fitness, InsiredRD, Weight Loss Guru, Earth Shoes  and of course, my Mamavation community  Plus my awesome Mentors Lolo, Laura, and Andrea, not to mention my partner in crime, and Mamavation Mom cohort, Hanan who puts up with my panicked tweets.

Keeping Motivated and Excited

It’s the beginning of week 3 of the Mamavation Mom campaign 12.

I’m a little scared. Somebody hold me!

All I have heard about it  “Weeks 2 & 3 stink, and  don’t worry, you’ll get through it”.

The reason why that scared me is that  the past week has been pretty terrific,so what happens next week?

In fact,  I HAVE LOST 12.2 POUNDS SINCE APPLYING TO BE A MAMAVATION MOM!I haven’t seen this side of 240′s for over a year. Maybe two. SO HOORAY FOR ME!

The video was shot on Mother’s Day which was an example of how our lives have changed. Instead of  lazing around and eating– we were out walking and hiking!

I DID have one total freak out day in which my personal life was just holding me back. I was overwhelmed and  frustrated and instead of turning to  food  or something unhealthy, I sent a shout out to all my mentors- Lolo, Laura, and Andrea- and Bless them, they walked me off the ledge.  This kind of support is KEY to the Mamavation campaign. And  I get so much support from all the Sistas.  That is why I LOVE Mamavation- there is always someone here to  lend an ear, give a kind word or  a kick in the butt when needed.

I had a chance to got to Fitness Magazine’s FitBlogNYC- an awesome event where I got to meet a few sista’s! I got to spend some time with Ghada, Sherry, and Shelly.

I am totally cross-eyed  with lack of sleep, but thrilled to meet them all!

LOVE the baby, too!

Shelley took another shot of her trying to wake me up at the “butt crack of dawn” but it’s not really appropriate for this post. Let’s just say I’m not a super early morning person, and Shelley is WAY chipper in the mornings. WAY chipper. ugh.

AND- guess what I got this week from New Balance?

Aren’t they PURTY?   Even better, they are SO comfortable and  I immediately went for a nice 6 mile walk. Let me tell you that are so comfortable and they fit perfectly. I’ve been experimenting with shoes lately, and I do have to say, honestly, that these are the most comfortable ones I’ve worn.  I am so happy and thankful that New Balance sent them to me!

I also received some awesome stuff from Omron Fitness, but  it’s so cool I an gonna tell you ALL about it next week when I have more time to play with it!

I’m so thankful to all our wonderful sponsors: New Balance, Omron Fitness, InsiredRD, Weight Loss Guru, Earth Shoes  and of course, my Mamavation community  Plus my awesome Mentors Lolo, Laura, and Andrea, not to mention my partner in crime, and Mamavation Mom cohort, Hanan.

Getting on the Right Track

What an AWESOME week!  I’ve been very excited about  starting this journey and have already learned a  lot.  I  love Alysa’s  food plan. It’s so easy to use and to follow- and it’s not stressful at all putting meals together.   Mark’s exercises are kinda killing me, but I’m modifying when I need to and  just getting it DONE  There is SO much support around that I really do feel like there is someone on every corner cheering for me.  The biggest difference?   These are all things I know I can do every day. Changing my life, instead of just my schedule for the next 7 weeks!

Guess what??  I’ve lost 8.8 pounds since applying to be a Mamavation Mom!   WHOO-HOO!

Wanna SEE how my week went?

I’ve started watching Pete Cohen’s program. I’ve not been able to give it the attention that it deserves , so  am going to make it more of a priority when I get back from NYC and Fitblog!   I am meeting Shelley, Ghada, Sherry and maybe a few other sistas at a Fitness Magazine Blogging event.   I am super excited about it, and as Leah said, I know I’ll stay on track because it’s all about health and fitness! :)

I’m sending a SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT  to the  wonderful sponsor that we have: Omron Fitness, New Balance,  Earth Shoes,  Weight Loss Guru, InspiredRd and of course, Mamavation, and the INCREDIBLE  mentors that Hanan and I have- Lolo, Laura, and Andrea.   I’m so thankful for you guys!

Ready to Get Started!

Do you remember those moments on Christmas Morning when you where still in bed, but not yet up? When everything was magical and special and  you knew you had  SO much to look forward to? That was me this morning!  I just know I have so much to look forward to!

Being a Mamavation Mom means so much to me.  I’ve been in a bit of a rut- there’s been a lot going on with my family and I’ve been devoting myself to them and letting myself go. I lost some of my motivation. This is sure to  jump start my mojo!   I am also so excited to be getting nutritional help.  That is one thing I REALLY need help with.  I’m excited about Peter Cohen’s course as well. There is a lot about losing weight that goes beyond losing weight- I’m guessing you have to lose baggage, as well.

I took some photos this morning to  be able to compare with in 7 weeks. I just KNOW I’m going to be thrilled with the results!

I’m NOT happy at all with those numbers. But I know they are going to change SO much in the next 7 weeks. I’m really thrilled  to get started and prove to myself I have what it take to make a real difference. This is one of the most exciting, thrilling, scariest, things to happen to me. I can’t wait to show you all I have what it takes!
