Finding a Spark

Know that part in the Hunger Games when Katniss and Peeta are holed up in the cave recovering from some really hard and exhausting things and gaining strength to go on? They knew they were in a bad place and that they needed to take some time to regroup and prepare to kick butt.

Yeah, we’re SO there.

For a bunch of reasons, it’s been hard for us to stick to the regime 100%.  At first I felt terribly guilty, but  now I’ve just owned that I screwed up, and I’m just pulling up my big girl panties and starting again! Mamavation is about real life, and we all know that it doesn’t always work out as planned! However, we also know that real life means  rearranging plans to make them work.  Here’s my weigh in!

Mamavation Two Week Challenge Campaign #11 with Bob Harper Oct 29th – Nov 12th

Yes, you read that correctly. Mamavation has teamed up with Bob Harper @mytrainerbob to bring you a very special Mamavation 2 Week Challenge just in time for the holidays. Participants in the previous challenges have lost over 940 pounds and 677 inches. The program that delivers proven results has just gotten better with Bob Harper joining the Mamavation 2 Week Challenge. Bob himself will be keeping tabs on the participants and tweeting encouragement.

Listen closely because the format for this 2 Week Challenge is completely different:

The 11th Mamavation 2 Week Challenge will start on Monday, October 29th.

To participate in this challenge:

1) Sign up on this google form (This is Essential!)

2) Tweet at @Mrbookieboo and let him know that you are joining the Mamavation 2 Week Challenge. IMPORTANT: Use the hashtags #Mamavation and #BobHarperLive for all challenge-related tweets. You do not need to use the #2weekchallenge hashtag for this challenge.

3) Record your starting weight and inches for your waist, hips and thighs (you do not need to send this information to us – just keep it in a safe place).

4) Download the workout outline here.

The specific workouts are available at www.bobharper.com. The first 100 people to sign-up for the challenge will receive complimentary access to the site before the challenge begins. (You did fill out that form in step 1, didn’t you?) If you are not one of the first 100 participants you can still join the challenge and be eligible for the prizes but you will need to sign-up on your own at www.bobharper.com.

If you miss a workout you can double-up the next day or makeup the workout on a rest day.

Mamavation 5k: The Run Across Twitter

     June 30th was an amazing day for Mamavation.  Members of the sistahood and Mamavation fans agreed to each run a 5k and then post a sweaty post run picture on Twitter.  In Mamavation fashion, it didn’t matter if you walked, jogged, ran or did something in between.  The only thing that mattered was that you did.

     Throughout the course of the day more than 38 people participated in the 5k from at least two countries.  Some of us ran in the heat, others in rain, and even one in mud.  The thing that kept us tied together was Twitter.  We didn’t just run, we tweeted our hearts out in support of one another.  Our tweets and those of people cheering us on helped to trend #Mamavation5k.  That is an amazing anniversary gift!

       Everyone who completed the Mamavation 5k is a winner in my book, since for many it was their very first 5k.  Alas, there can only be one winner.  The winner was randomly drawn from the list of all who tweeted out their picture, her picture was quite humorous.  Congratulations ResaMichelle!

You spoke and we listened – the Mamavation 2 Week Challenge is back. Based on the feedback that we received from the Mamavation community we have made a few changes to the program that delivers results – 671 pounds and 516 inches have been lost through 7 campaigns.

If you have been hesitant to sign up for whatever reason – this is your time to shine. We have created two very different tracks in this 2 Week Challenge:

Another Mamavation Two Week Challenge has come and gone and the program continues to deliver. This challenge lived up to it’s name – it wasn’t easy. Participants felt the burn and worked really hard.  37 people finished losing a combined 74 pounds and 63 inches!

The total loss over 6 campaigns stands at 593 pounds and 449 inches!!

Two Week Challenge Campaign 5 Wrap-up

Can you believe we have finished the 5th Mamavation Two Week Challenge? It feels like it was just yesterday when I sat down with Bookieboo and developed the initial ideas for the challenge. Even more remarkable is all of the hard work and dedication of all of the participants. 63 people finished this last campaign and collectively lost 160 pounds and 138 inches!

The total loss over 5 campaigns is an amazing 519 pounds and 385 inches!!

The results speak for themselves – the Mamavation community is an amazing place filled with individuals that support and help one another. Best of all – we are just getting started.

The 4th Mamavation Two Week Challenge is in the books and the results continue to impress. 131 people signed up for this challenge and 65 people finished. The participants lost a combined 161 pounds and 88 inches!!

Great job to everyone that finished – you are an inspiration to the Mamavation community and beyond. Even if you weren’t able to finish the challenge you should be proud for trying.
