@LisaSamples’ #Mamavation Post (Week 3)

Confession: I’m kind of in a rut the past few days. It seems like my schedule got so hectic all of a sudden and I’m having a hard time prioritizing my time. I know working out has to fit in there somewhere. For those of you who work outside of the home I’m sure you understand (or at least I hope I’m not alone). I’ve been eating right – except today I broke down and had 10 peanut M & Ms. I don’t feel guilty about having one or two every once in a while, but today I had a hard time not going back for another two and another two…until I finally just grabbed the last four and shoved them in my mouth like some kind of addict.

Tuesday was a bad work out day for me – or pretty much a non-existent work out day. Yesterday I did better, but today I still have 155 calories to burn before my Gruve turns green….and that is a lot when you just want to go to bed. I think it is time to get back listening to my Pete Cohen 28-day challenge. His program really inspires me to think positively and to do well. He is, after all, the weight loss guru! At least I’m getting the extra calorie burn from my Exer-Walks that I received from Earth Footwear while walking on my awesome treadmill from Smooth Fitness.

My Fit Friend, Erin, from The Mom Buzz had a giveaway a few weeks ago that the winner never claimed and lucky me – I won these awesome work out towels by Words to Sweat By. In the spirit of #Mamavation the rules were that I could pick out 2 towels – one for me and one for someone to help motivate them working out. I picked the “There will be no jiggle in my wiggle” towel and I’m going to give one of my Mamavation Sistas the “No Excuses” towel. I believe choosing which Sista to give the towel to would be nearly impossible…therefore I will pick one random Sista who leaves a comment on my post here or at Mom of 2 Boys (but I would definitely like for you to stop over to my blog and say hey too!). This is only for my Sistas because you all motivate me and love me and you deserve something nice for it!This is the perfect workout towel for my mood today!

@LisaSamples’ #Mamavation Post (Week 2)

Well, time is flying and I realize I have a lot of work to do still. I have definitely made some huge changes since we started, but I don’t think they are true habits yet. According to Pete Cohen it takes roughly 21 days for something to become a habit. (Plug: Check out Weightloss Guru!) I do believe that water is now a habit since I did the official switch on January 2nd, but I still have a way to go with food and fitness. Orientation is over – now it is time to kick butt!

My family is adjusting to our lifestyle change much better than I expected. I haven’t bought soda in weeks and no one has asked me to. I don’t seem to have as much control over what they eat or drink when they aren’t home, but I’m working on that. Yesterday my son was at his aunt’s house eating pop-tarts and chocolate covered sunflower seeds.

Tonight’s Dinner: Grilled Salmon Salad

Oh, did I forget to mention that I have lost 16.6 lbs? Yep, I have! Katie is doing great too. She has lost over 5 lbs! Amazing…

I got my Earth Footwear shoes this week and they are pretty amazing. I can feel the difference when I walk – especially uphill. I’ll have one awesome set of legs and tush when I am done, thanks to them!

My treadmill arrived today too, but I have to call Smooth Fitness tomorrow to find out how to adjust the belt. I really wanted to use it tonight, but it just didn’t work out. I walked about 30 minutes, but was unable to run because I was afraid the belt wouldn’t cooperate and I didn’t want to break it. I did, however, plug in my iPod into the stereo that is built into it to listen to my workout music.

@LisaSamples Thursday’s Thoughts: Mamavation Week 1

Welcome to Thursday’s Thoughts. This is my first week of being one of the official Mamavation Moms and I thought I would share with you a little about my week. As many of you know I found out last Thursday night that I was one of the two women who would enter the 7-week bootcamp ran by Leah (aka @bookieboo) to help me transition into a new lifestyle of health and fitness. Katie, @FrugalFemina, was the other mom chosen to take this journey with me. I’m thrilled to be working with her and look forward to us both becoming healthier. Neither of us could have done it without you!

So, the week has been more of an orientation due to the fact that a lot of our equipment and tools were not yet set in place. However, we have both been busy recording our daily food journals and weekly vlogs. Throughout the week we have been getting lots of packages in the mail of great products!

So far this is what I have received:

Here is what I am expecting next week:

I have also gotten a personal nutrition plan from Dr. Renna (@DrMary14). We talked for about two hours on the phone last night. I am a bit overwhelmed at the amount of food she gave me, but she assured me it was what my body would need to do this right. Here are two things I learned:

  1. Cinnamon is AWESOME and it even increases your metabolism!
  2. That 2 cups of lettuce only counts as 1 vegetable, not two.

I have also been working with Pete Cohen (@PeteCohen) from PeteCohen.tv and WeightlossGuru.com on a 28-day challenge (follow the hashtag on twitter #petecohen) to become a thinner, healthier, and happier me. If you have never checked out his program, you should. He is witty, charming, and a blast to work with!

My FIT Friend, Erin from The Mom Buzz has been great this week. She has sent me emails and tweets and is always so supportive. She’s currently working on a fitness site geared toward Figure Competition/Body Building called BoomBoomFit.com. It is a work-in-progress, but still pretty interesting.

None of this would have even been possible if not for Leah (@bookieboo). I really appreciate her dedication and continued support. She is awesome.

Well, back to this week…
On Monday I will share with you where I am in my weight loss. I’m not sure if I will have updated measurements this week or next, but I’ll share those as well once I have them. Do you think the scale moved? Even if it didn’t move, I feel better, I look better, and my pants are leaving welts in my waist/belly area throughout the day.

I feel pretty good, maybe a bit tired from the sleep I lost last week. I’m very confident about my food choices this past week and my water intake. My fitness definitely is lacking, but I think this next week will be so much better once we have our fitness plan from Tracey Mallett.
