It’s a Life Change, not a Diet.

As much as I would like to say this past week was awesome. It just wasn’t. It was hard and a few times this past week I broke down crying from exhaustion.

After having a weekend with family, away from the computer, and trying to focus on being happy again...I am finally feeling better.

Please ignore the fact that I made this at 6am, and I am a little tired still.

Did you hear that guys? Overall, I am down 15lbs since applying to be a Mamavation Mom!! More importantly then that, I am feeling like instead of just being on a diet, like I would have before, I am starting to feel like our life is changing for the better.

Down to 223 lbs! Started at 238 lbs.

Our grocery cart is full of produce, instead of boxes and cans of food.

I make it a point to get to the gym daily. After working out, I feel better.

It feels good. All of it. I’m so thankful to have had this opportunity!

Thank You to our sponsors for this campaign:

Each one is playing a huge roll in our goal to get active and healthy.

Also a Huge Thank you to all the Coaches:
Leah @BookieBoo, Alysa @InspiredRD, Pete  @PeteCohen_, and Mark @MrBookieboo.

Special THANK YOU to my mentors, who really helped me this past weekend. You ladies mean everything to me!!

My body is saying No More.

Can you believe we’re half way done with Mamavation Campaign #12? It’s actually gone by pretty quickly.

Half way done, and I can very happily say that I have now lost 14.4 lbs since I applied!! Very happy to see the scale go down this week.

Omron Body Composition Monitor

We were supposed to share our measurements with you as well. When I did them on Monday, it didn’t seem like I lost any. So either I measured wrong the first time or I haven’t lost any inches. However, the tight jeans I bought a month ago say differently ;-)

Here’s my vlog for this week. I had actually started one last night, but it was SO depressing I deleted it. This one is not much better, and mostly because I have been fighting a cold since Sunday. My body is saying No more, but I’m not going to listen.

I mentioned I got my Earthies Shoes. LOVE them! They are the Raphaelle boots. I just love how Earth Foot Wear promotes beautiful and sexy shoes, but most with wedges, which are still super comfortable.

Small Steps and BIg Changes

I can’t believe that we are nearly  halfway done  with Campaign 12!  I’m learning so much and really noticing differences in  my life… and my body!  In fact, I have lost 13.2 pounds, and 8 inches since I applied to be a Mamavation Mom!

Not every steps as a Mamavation Mom is small, in fact, it’s pretty intense, but they are changes that everyone can make:  east healthy,  exercise more, lean on friends for support, and find the tools that help you succeed: and that I’ve done!

One of the things I’m LOVING my new Omron Fitness Pedometer and Scale!    First of all my pedometer is my new best friend (or worst enemy if my steps are not high enough at night!) .  I check it around 7 and end up hoofing it around the block to get it all in.!   They also sent us this awesome scale- the Full Body Sensor that not only measures your weight, but  it also measures your body fat percent, your visceral fat level,  skeletal muscle percent, body weight, and  BMI.  Visceral fat is the hidden fat that hides in your abdomen and surrounds your vital organs- and this type of fat often goes undetected.  The more skeletal muscle you have the more calories you will burn, as muscle burns 22% of calories. I love having this tool at my toes to help me  lose weight!

Next week Ally and I are participating in Color Me Rad, a fun 5K that incorporated running and fun!  We’ll be  in Hartford for our first race together, and we are both super excited!   i can’t wait to show those photos!

None of these changes that I’ve been making would have been possible without  help-  and I’d love to say a great big THANK YOU  to our sponsors,: New Balance, Omron Fitness, InsiredRD, Weight Loss Guru, Earth Shoes  and of course, my Mamavation community  Plus my awesome Mentors Lolo, Laura, and Andrea, not to mention my partner in crime, and Mamavation Mom cohort, Hanan who puts up with my panicked tweets.

Keep on swimming…keep on swimming…

It is Week three of Mamavation, and I’m trying hard to keep up with everything. Being a Mamamvation Mom is not easy. We have to get in 10,000 steps a day, 100 oz water, circuits, and stick to our nutrition plan.

With everything else going on around me, it’s been a little hard trying to get everything done daily. I’m trying though, and that is a lot more then I could have said, before Mamavation.

This past week, the scale did not cooperate as well as I would have liked. But dammit, overall I have lost over 9lbs since applying to be a Mamavation Mom, woohoo!

Even more exciting then that, is FEELING better. More energy, which means more spending time together as a family.

Here’s a little more of what I had to say about this week…

Using the tools I need to eat healthy, exercise, and lose weight.

Hello everyone! Hanan here, for week 2 of being a Mamavation Mom. You can check out my week 1 post here.

So much happened this past week.

After traveling, coming home, and finally getting back into the swing of things, I’m feeling much better now.

I can hardly believe it myself, but I lost even more pounds this past week. Putting me at a 11.6 lb weight loss since I applied to be a Mamavation Mom. That jump, right at the beginning was really a perfect way to start this campaign.

Over the past week, I have been working my butt off with the daily circuits. Which I’m not going to lie, is tough.

Alysa, from Inspired Results, sent me my nutrition plan which fits perfect with the foods I like, keeping my calories up for nursing, and over all just being really easy to use this week. Don’t worry, I will tell you more about those meal plans in the following weeks, as I get better with them and get my exchange book.

A few times this past week I have forgotten to eat my afternoon snack. Being a mom to three, I do often forget to stop and eat. Also, I have it embedded in my head to drink more water. I know I need extra water, with the exercising and nursing. Of course, I am struggling to remember that too.

If you haven’t joined the Mamavation Forums yet, you should. Everyone is so helpful. If you have a question, there is always someone to help or suggest. It’s been really helpful to log my food and exercise, get that support and advice from others.

A BIG HUG to my Mamavation Mentors Lolo, Andrea, and Lauren who all have been just plain awesome at helping us. They email, text, tweet me everyday and I couldn’t have asked for better mentors. Also, I would really like to thank Megan and Shannon for all our talks and your help this week. The whole sistahood is just awesome!

I have noticed that my oldest is asking questions like “Are we going to the gym today?” and the girls just love to exercise with me. It’s just a great feeling knowing I’m having an impact on them already.

Here’s a little more of what I have to say…

Ready to Get Started!

Do you remember those moments on Christmas Morning when you where still in bed, but not yet up? When everything was magical and special and  you knew you had  SO much to look forward to? That was me this morning!  I just know I have so much to look forward to!

Being a Mamavation Mom means so much to me.  I’ve been in a bit of a rut- there’s been a lot going on with my family and I’ve been devoting myself to them and letting myself go. I lost some of my motivation. This is sure to  jump start my mojo!   I am also so excited to be getting nutritional help.  That is one thing I REALLY need help with.  I’m excited about Peter Cohen’s course as well. There is a lot about losing weight that goes beyond losing weight- I’m guessing you have to lose baggage, as well.

I took some photos this morning to  be able to compare with in 7 weeks. I just KNOW I’m going to be thrilled with the results!

R THIGH 27.25

I’m NOT happy at all with those numbers. But I know they are going to change SO much in the next 7 weeks. I’m really thrilled  to get started and prove to myself I have what it take to make a real difference. This is one of the most exciting, thrilling, scariest, things to happen to me. I can’t wait to show you all I have what it takes!

Random Thoughts

I think having the tuesday blog is the hardest one because we talk so much monday night at Mamavation TV I never know what to say on Tuesday… Crazy right? But any who…

My week was decent I had a loss but I had this huge number I wanted to reach this campaign and a 1lb loss wasn’t gonna get me where I wanna be, But Leah put it into prespective for me… I’ve lost 58lbs in a few short months… HELLLO 58lbs is HUGE!!!!!!!! Stop worrying with the small number and focus on the big picture. So that is my mindset for now because I am a BookieBoo Badass and I am Gruntstyle Strong! This week I did alot of thinking and worrying really,  My brother went in for his weight loss surgery on tuesday (he had the duodenal_switch which is the hard core one) and then got a an infection and I will honestly say I am scared for him and hope and pray this works for him. But I see so many chose Surgery over the “natural” way. Im not saying the surgery doesn’t work and for some they need it but I just don’t know I think there should be more that goes into the before surgery I mean I know there is but I think if we as a world would stop trying to fast forward everything it would be better. We are always so rushed,

The holidays are quickly approaching and I know for alot of us its a scary time because Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years are huge eating events. I mean these are the holidays where the deserts are the meals for alot of time especially at the parties. But if you go into the season with a plan you can conquer the holiday season and not gain back everything you worked your butt off the whole year to lose. We decided as a family we were going to do more family things over the holidays. Decorate together, watch all the holiday movies, have family game nights etc all things that can be done and actually help lose weight. Instead of chips we eat popcorn or fruit. I am really looking forward to spending time with the family and unplugging a bit during that time they are growing up so quickly and in a few years its gonna be the opposite Im gonna be begging for time with them and they arent gonna wanna hang out with Mommy and Daddy..

Alright so now about David, I really dread this part every week almost as much as the video she makes me do. But I had a good week, as long as Megan makes the meal plan and keeps tabs on me during the day Im less likely to cheat. It will be interesting this holiday season trying to keep on track and not over do. Luckily we don’t do many family gatherings or parties. Im still learning lots and still can’t do a jumpsquat but other than that Im on track and down 2 more lbs!

The Final Countdown…

This is the time of the campaign when I start to reflect on my experiences. With 2 weeks to go I need to make sure that I am grasping this new lifestyle to keep it up after the campaign and not toss it to the side. The time of the campaign where I look over the past 5 weeks to see if there is anything I need to improve on. To push to make sure I crush Campaign 7′s loss. And that is what this week’s video is about…

Excuse the huffing and puffing as I was walking outside on my break…

(To correct my video, I am actually 4 lbs from that goal, not 2)

And this week’s weigh in:

259.8 -12.4 lbs

Pure awesomeness! I will admit, I was a little bummed with that yesterday morning, but then I mentally smacked myself, and remembered that the changes I am feeling and seeing in my body are much more important than that number on the scale. Oh, and by the way, I am wearing a tank top as I write this. Feeling awesomely confident!

Big thanks to our awesome sponsor EA Sports Active and to our awesome coaching team Alysa Bajenaru, RD @Inspired_RD, Daniel Alarik @GruntStyle, Pete Cohen @weightlossguru_!

Feelin’ Alive in Week 5

I feel strong this week! Last week I was sick with a cold, had no energy and was just down and out. But I think my body needed that rest, because this week, I am rearing to go! I feel refreshed, strong and motivated. I hope that lasts throughout the week, because this Saturday I will be running my very first 5K! Check out my vlog this week for more updates, NSVs (non-scale victories), and more!

I have lost 11 lbs to date in Campaign 9! I am very excited about the changes I am seeing and feeling in my body. I am looking forward to shopping for new winter clothes as the fall/winter season approaches, because my summer clothes are already feeling loose!
