@FrugalFemina’s Final Video Confessional

Thank you so much to my sponsors and coaches. I’m so proud to have represented you! Earth Footwear, EA SPORTS Active, Smooth Fitness, Gaiam, Tracey Mallett, Pete Cohen, Dr. Renna, and my Fit Friend Andrea at Mommy Snacks. Keep following my journey at Frugal Femina.

@FrugalFemina’s Post: The Best of Mamavation

The last few days of this campaign are drawing to a close, so I’ve been thinking a lot about what I have learned and how thankful I am to be a Mamavation Mom. Here are some of my favorite thoughts/moments:

1. Finishing a cardio interval workout is the best feeling in the world, and it makes me feel like I can do ANYTHING. Mamavation is empowering!

2. I love having a group of friends in the Sistahood who genuinely want to see me succeed. I can’t wait to meet everyone in person and run the 5k at BlogHer. Best friends forever? :-)

3. Pete Cohen’s tips work with more than just weight loss. I used his concepts to help get through a brutal test today. And I ask myself every day, “Will this give me energy or take it away?” I think a lot more about what choices I’m making each day to keep my body healthy.

4. I heart Tracey Mallett. If you’re stuck in a plateau, she’s your gal! I so hope I get to meet her in real life someday.

5. Companies like Earth Footwear, EA SPORTS Active, Smooth Fitness, and Gaiam amaze me. You helped completely change my life in just a few short weeks, and I am so proud to know you. THANK YOU for what you are doing with Mamavation.

6. I finally know what a balanced diet looks like, thanks to Dr. Renna. You could never feel deprived with a nutrition plan like that, because you’re eating all the time! I’m glad I figured out a way to get my snacks in when I’m working a long shift at the hospital. That was a huge breakthrough for me.

7. Living a healthy lifestyle is not as hard as I thought. I just needed a plan! I know what I need to do to be successful, and I’m not looking back. In fact, it’s really hard NOT to make good choices because I know better now.

8. I don’t miss sugar like I thought I would. Apparently I like to have coffee during my free meal, though. Who would have thought? I wonder if I will call it my free meal for the rest of my life. :-)

9. I will miss Leah sending me a present every time I lose 5 pounds. :-) I guess I will at least have to reward myself with a nice exercise outfit (instead of my pj’s!).

10. Lisa, Alyssa, and Andrea from Mommy Snacks are worth their weight in gold. Thank you all for supporting me! I’m looking forward to that shopping trip with you, Andrea, when I reach my goal weight. :-)

11. Dude, I CAN’T WAIT to be a mentor for the next Mamavation Mom. It is going to be so fun to watch her go through this program and amaze herself. I’ll be glad to welcome another two moms into the Mamavation Mom family.

12. Exercise is my favorite way to get rid of stress. I get some Katie time in each day, and it makes me feel GOOD. That is important for a mama.

Thank you to all of the people who have supported me throughout the past few months. I am so, so blessed, and I can’t wait to pay it forward! You can keep track of me over at Frugal Femina.

@FrugalFemina’s Video Confessional – The Time Has Flown By!

HUGE thanks to my sponsors and coaches for the time they have invested in me during this campaign. Earth Footwear, EA SPORTS Active, Smooth Fitness, Gaiam, Tracey Mallett, Pete Cohen, Dr. Renna, and my Fit Friend Andrea at Mommy Snacks. You can keep following me at Frugal Femina.

Thursday Thoughts: Mamavation (Week 6)

One more week!

Successes: I haven’t quit. LOL Seriously, my diet (except for the pizza earlier this week) has been awesome and they say that is 85% of weight loss. I have kept up with my veggie intake and cutting out of sweets and too many carbs.

Challenges: Working my BUSY schedule.

Sunday I am bound for California. I wish I were going there on vacation, but unfortunately I will actually be working. I have started making a list of local restaurants that cater to healthy eating. I want to make sure I am prepared. Any last tips?

For those new to my site I am one of two Mamavation Moms. You should read about the program here. It is an incredible resource for heathy living. Katie, from Frugal Femina, is the other mom and she has been incredible throughout this campaign. Check her out on twitter: http://twitter.com/frugalfemina – you can’t help but like her.

Every week I talk about myself and my journey through this campaign, but I feel like I have lost touch with some of the Sistas from Mamavation and this week I would love if you could share in the comment section some of what has been going on with you. If you want to leave links to your Mamavation Monday posts for others to read, that is fine too. I just haven’t been able to get to many of them lately and feel bad.

One more week and we will start preparing to hand off our torches. On my final post I am thinking of posting before/after pictures. I just hope they look good…lol.

PS I appreciate our awesome sponsors: Earth Footwear, EA Sports Active, Smooth Fitness, Gaiam, and Tracey Mallet, Dr. Renna, Pete Cohen, MomTV, BookieBoo, and the Sistahood!

@lisasamples Thursday Thoughts: Mamavation (Week 5)

I lost weight last week. I also busted my butt. Katie did too. We rocked it…

How is any of this possible? Well, without our sponsors, sistahood, family/friends, and Leah it would nearly be impossible. #Mamavation works, because together we make it work. Our sponsors such as Earth Footwear, EA Sports Active, Smooth Fitness, Gruve, Gaiam, Tracey Mallet, Pete Cohen, Dr. Renna, and others give us the tools to be successful as the Mamavation Moms. The Sistahood keep us motivated and accountable. Our family and friends (especially our FIT Friends like Erin from The Mom Buzz) give us support. Leah coordinates it all to make it happen. Without any one part of this formula I’m not sure how successful I would have been over the past 5 weeks. Thank you.

Here is a confession:

A couple weeks ago there was a time or two where I thought of quitting. The thoughts usually came when I was over tired, when I didn’t feel like working out or doing another 10 minutes of fitness, or when I was really craving a french fry or toasted bagel dripping with butter. When those feelings came I was able to put myself in ‘check’ quickly because I realized my brain was trying to take the easy way out. It’s easier to lay on the couch and eat bon-bons than it is to change your lifestyle. But the long term consequence of that behavior is suicidal.

I’m 43 years old. I have been obese for the past 16 years. If I stay this way I probably wouldn’t have another 16 years to live. Is that worth a french fry to me? I think not. I want to live another 40+ years. I want to enjoy my children and my grandchildren. I don’t want to be dependent on blood pressure medication and medication for my cholesterol and future inevitable diabetes medication. I choose life over death.

This is the body that lives underneath what I see in the mirror:

8th or 9th Grade (1980)

High School Graduation (1985)

I’m going to find her again and I owe a lot of that to you. I love you, thank you for helping me live.

@FrugalFemina’s Mamavation Post: Exercise Routine

A few people asked about my specific exercise routine after I posted about some of the DVD’s I’m using, so I’m sharing a few more details. Just remember, I’m not an expert. I just do what the bosses tell me. :-) But I can say that this routine is working for me! So far I have lost 10 pounds on the dot, and I’m loving that my pants are starting to be too big. I don’t feel deprived. I just feel GOOD and know this is something I can follow long term.

I like the variety in this routine and the combination of cardio and weight training. It works your entire body and really helps work out the stress. I’m sure none of you need that! :-)
