Where the Sidewalk Ends, and the Road begins…

 I can hardly believe it myself, but it is now week 7 of the Mamavation Boot Camp! In a few more days I will do my final weigh in, and any future weight loss will be up to me! Of course, that’s not really much of a change, as it was up to me the whole time. But I didn’t have the right tools before, so I struggled. I needed guidance! Being given this opportunity to participate in this boot camp was a tremendous help. I learned a LOT about healthy eating, some things I was unaware of, and others I was misinformed. Now I am much more aware of the things I am putting into my body. This change is something that will truly stick. I cannot lie and say I wouldn’t drool over a brownie right now (brownie= my kryptonite); but I can say that come next Sunday, after I do my final weigh in, I’m not going to go have one “just because I can”. I plan to continue using the system of exchanges in planning my meals, and hope to reach my weight loss goals in the near future, and then maintain that loss through my new healthy lifestyle. I am at a crossroads, where the sidewalk ends, and the road begins; but my journey is not ending, it’s only just gotten started!
One thing I will be looking forward to once the campaign is over is having a little bit more time to myself. I tend to have very little free time generally speaking, but there are some time constraints as a Mamavation Mom that I will be okay with giving back up! They weren’t enough to deter me from applying and fulfilling my duties during the campaign, but they definitely kept me busy! Since the start of the campaign one thing I have been monitoring that I was not doing before was my steps. I wear a pedometer and try to make sure I hit 10,000 steps/day. I began walking my dog each night sometimes 1 miles, sometimes 3, in order to be sure I hit my goal. This is something I am glad to say will stick as well because it’s a great way to end the night for both myself and my dog. She loves exploring the neighborhood, and secretly I think she gets a kick out of setting all the dogs in the neighborhood to barking as she passes their homes.

That was me just 7 weeks ago. And here I am now. Can you see a difference?
I am very happy to report I had another great weigh in this week, dropping another 2.2 lbs!


It feels so good to be on a losing streak! I hope that by keeping this momentum going I will just keep losing, while also continuing to build muscle. I am enjoying the physical changes that I have experienced immensely. In 7 weeks I have lost 13 lbs, and 14.5 inches! Who wouldn’t enjoy that? But I am also enjoying the energy I have from eating healthier! The subtraction of processed foods from my diet has also great improved my stomach as well; as pre-Mamvation I had suffered from a very sensitive stomach. Certain foods would cause all sorts of gastric issues, and also changed my mood. I have felt so good in the last few weeks I am pretty positive it is all the unnatural things in processed foods that were upsetting me in the first place. It’s amazing not to have to spend hours curled up in a ball due to stomach upset every week or so. I am so happy that I have taken this step in improving my lifestyle, and that of my children. I truly think that they are enjoying this healthier mama, with a better disposition to boot. And I know that by setting this example for them, I am setting them up to make healthier choices in their own lives as they grow older. That’s the best part in all of this.

And truly I felt like I was doing things right. I thought exercising and eating healthy were things I had a handle on, but I didn’t know how to properly work my muscles and give them rest. I didn’t know what foods my body needed in what combinations, to keep from having those wonderful, cravings we all struggle with.
