7 Week Detox

All homes are full of chemicals that have the ability to impact the hormonal health of the people living inside. And there are certain times during your life when being on guard is the most important: utero (pregnant), before age 5, puberty & menopause.

Protecting your family from the potential impacts of hormone disrupting chemicals is paramount. But it’s also very intimidating when you just don’t know what to do. Green Enough book by Leah Segedie

Week One

Pay close attention to the introduction and chapter one. This chapter is about food. There will be a pantry purge plan in the book. Follow the step-by-step plan inside. I tell you to look and not make any sudden moves in the book, but if you want to get this done in seven weeks, you don’t have time to wait. Get moving and follow everything! Pay close attention to the recommended brands from page 51 to page 63 so you can get shopping. And note some of these items will be easier to find online, so here’s the link to our store where you can find them.


Week Two

You are now skipping ahead to chapter three and four–cleaner produce and healthier meat, eggs & dairy. If you are a vegan, you can skip chapter four entirely. Lucky you. This is where you learn all about pesticides, phthalates, antibiotics, hormones and all the other things that go bump in the night. Do you need to purchase all organic produce? NO. This chapter will help you navigate how to do that and save money in the process. Then when it comes to the meat section, I ain’t going to lie to you…good animal products are expensive. So follow the advice here and remember, less is more. Do you want to understand more about the certifications you are seeing and which ones are legit? Pay close attention to this chapter. The marketing BS is astounding.


Week Three

Go back to chapter two which covers food packaging, cookware and storage containers. You may think this sounds like a boring chapter, but it’s the quickest way you can make biggest dent in the hormonal health of your family…so pay attention. You’ll learn a ton about something called “indirect food additives” and where they are hiding WITHOUT A LABEL. Having this knowledge will give you a better understanding of where the monsters are really hiding. There’s another pantry purge here in this chapter. You’ll be like WTF Leah! But do it anyway. Then pay close attention to recommended products section where you’ll find replacements. And if you click here a bunch of them are already ready for you to purchase on Amazon. (Hate me now, love me later!)


Week Four

Okay now you are ready for good eats. Now that you can’t unlearn some of the things I’ve shared with you, it’s time to get cooking and experimenting. Go to chapter five about good eats, which is basically recipes I’ve created over the years to save me time, energy and money. And these recipes were created so they work together with sauces, seasonings, and main dishes that go together with tips on what to do with leftovers. You’ll also get my famous bean recipes that you’ll make from scratch and freeze for later. And what do you do with those vegetables that whither in the “drawer of good intentions”…I’ve got recipes for that to save them! Look for the DOGI recipes. This week is about experimentation and getting comfortable cooking from scratch and avoiding cans and packages. 


Week Five

Now you are ready to venture outside the kitchen to the rest of the house. The main focus will be on the air quality in your home and tips and tricks on how to improve it. Open up chapter six and read all you can about air quality. There is plenty in there to keep you busy all week. And yes, I want you to literally go through your home and smell everything, clean the air with the suggestions I’ve made and get the products I’m suggesting. Later in the chapter, I discuss cleaning products and I start going from room to room to help you figure out where the buggars are hiding in each part of your home. This is difficult but important. Take your time here. Leave the cleaning tips for next week though.


Week Six

Now for my favorite part–cleaning. Okay actually if you know me you know how ironic that statement is. I hate cleaning, but it’s an extremely important part of dumbing down the amount of hormone disrupting chemicals that are finding their way into your home. I’m presenting for you in chapter six a serious cleaning plan. This is where I want you to take that plan literal and start implementing the cleaning I’m suggesting in the way prescribed. You may need to adjust this for your home and come up with a strategy that involves other family members. This is why cleaning gets its own week. And then of course, use the better cleaning products I’ve suggested in this chapter OR make your own with the recipes I included in the book. Week Seven

Okay get ready because if you were cussing about me under your breath earlier, you’ll really be doing it in in chapter seven which is about personal care products. Personal care products are personal and that’s the truth. I’m not sure what’s going to happen when you switch from cosmetics that impact your hormones to ones that do not. They will not work the same. This is why you’ll have to trust me when I say that experimentation is your best friend. Make sure to do the personal care product purge. You’ll likely be throwing everything away…just to warn you. The cosmetic industry is a VERY unregulated industry and you’ll understand why after this happens. Then you’ll be able to choose from products that I’m recommending OR make them yourself! There are recipes I’ve included so you can choose what you want. I make my own deodorant but use alternative brands as well that are mentioned, same for lotion, facial cream, etc. and I’ve shared all my recipes with you!

Okay now that you are done make sure to share your knowledge with your friends and family. This isn’t something to keep secret. Be proud girl! You’ve done a ton and are amazing!
