Are you ready for the holidays? Often we find that this is a time of great joy – we are able to see extended family we maybe don’t see very often, have delicious meals, gather to celebrate, and share gifts with one another. But with great joy can also come great stress. Whether it’s because your family puts the FUN in dysfuncational, they’re just plain crazy, you have a wildly hectic schedule, or you’re worried about any number of issues we see in this seasons, it can be a very stressful time. To help our community to prepare for this, we’re bringing a very special guest on our show this week – she’s a psychotherapist and yoga instructor who sees her clients both on the couch and on the mat and will teach us how we can defeat holiday stress with fitness.

Ashley Turner has an undergraduate degree in International Relations from USC, a Masters in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Depth (Jungian) Pyschology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and has completed a 13-month Priestess Training with Ariel Splisbury to become an Ordained Priestess. She wrote her Master’s thesis on the integration of yoga and psychology, co-authored Aroma Yoga: A Guide to Using Essential Oils in Yoga + Life with Tracy Griffiths, and is the creator of the best-selling Element Beginner Yoga DVD’s Yoga for Weight Loss, Yoga for Stress Relief & Flexibility, and Power Yoga. She has many accolades – a tribute to the success of her combination of yoga, neurobiology, Jungian psychology, Ayurveda, tantra, shamanism, and Priestess work to help her clients and students. She’s truly an amazing person and we are delighted to have her as a guest on our show!

Each week, we hold a blogging carnival on our Mamavation forum where we invite our community members to add links to their health related (health and fitness, weight loss, toxin-free living, etc topics are accepted!) posts that they’d like to have others read. The carnival goes from Tuesday night to the following Monday.
