Earth Footwear is a company that truly cares about the Earth – they “believe that following a path to wellness includes making our Earth a healthier place for us all” (read more on their Community page). In fact, they are a partner with Trees for the Future, a non-profit organization that plants trees to help offset the deficit of trees that are destroyed each year. In addition to this venture, Earth Footwear also wants to help spread the message about caring for our planet.
Earth Day Neighborhood Beautification Project
In addition to their partnership with Trees for the Future, Earth Footwear actively encourages people to celebrate Earth Day and spread the message about taking care of our planet in all of our communities. To help with that message, we held an Ambassador program in which Earth Footwear selected two bloggers for a special Earth Day Neighborhood Beautification Project. The bloggers were asked to plan and execute a neighborhood beautification project in their own communities and were compensated with a cash award and two pairs of Earth Footwear for participating.
We introduced the bloggers selected to complete the project recently, and now we would like to update you on how their projects went – and how they were able to beautify their communities with the help from Earth Footwear.
Earth Day Park Clean Up for Preschoolers
Located in Tampa Bay, Denise of deniseisrundmt.com believes that it is important to teach little ones how to make their neighborhood more beautiful. She planned a fun and educational play date at a local park where preschoolers were able to participate in activities such as planting wildflowers around the trees in the park, playing a scavenger hunt to pick up litter in the park, making trash collages from the items the kids picked up, recycling the plastic they found, and even donating one clothing item.
She also prepared take home activities for the children so that their learning can continue at home, including reusing egg cartons to plant sunflower seeds, and reusing the avocado pits and cups from the healthy snack she prepared to try to root avocados. Her play date was filled with educational opportunities for the children to have fun and learn how to beautify the Earth with small actions in which even the smallest ones are able to participate.
See more from her project here, it was a smashing success even though it was a bit rain delayed!
Bringing Greens to Urban Scenes
In Brooklyn, New York, Candice from MomMostTraveled has seen first hand the benefits of providing fresh, affordable produce, cooking demonstrations, and even recipe ideas to low income communities that might not otherwise have access to fresh, healthy foods. She regularly volunteers with Fresh Food Box, a program from GrowNYC that works with farmers and growers within the New York State area to bring fresh, healthy, regional produce to under served communities in New York and Brooklyn.

In addition to working with the farmers to bring the produce in, box it up, and help distribute in the community, the group that Candice works with also performs free cooking demonstrations to help the community understand how to use the fresh produce to which they may have not been previously exposed. Learning new ways to cook with the foods they already know and cooking with new foods has been a great addition to her community, bringing people together to learn more about their food and their health while appreciating the sustenance from the Earth.
See more about her project here, she has done great work to beautify her neighborhood with fresh, healthy foods!
