This week on Mamavation TV, we will again be talking about dangerous toxins that may be in your home. We will cover how to stay safe, even during home renovations. This topic would not be complete without discussing asbestos, a known carcinogen. Mesothelioma is the aggressive form of cancer caused by inhalation and exposure to asbestos affecting the lungs. We are lucky enough to have a survivor of Mesothelioma as our guest this week.
WHAT’S MAMAVATION TV?
Mamavation TV is a weekly show that is hosted by Leah Segedie that is broadcast live on Google+ and YouTube every Monday night at 6pm PST/9pm EST. Each week the show brings a guest expert, panel, or community theme that will encourage or educate in the topics of activism, food, fitness, sustainable living, life detox, and the Mamavation boot camp. Leah also presents the top food news of the week to keep you informed about what’s happening in the fast moving world today.
Our Guest This Week
Heather Von St. James is a rare mesothelioma cancer survivor of 8 years. In 2005, at the age of 36, just 3 1/2 short months after giving birth to her daughter Lily, she was diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma. After a life saving surgery at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, she has made it her mission as a cancer survivor to help other mesothelioma victims around the globe. She blogs with her husband Cameron for the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance where they share their experience for others going through a tough cancer diagnosis. They hope you will take a moment to educate yourself about mesothelioma and how you can help be a voice for the victims.

I picked up a lot of tips watching the youtube show. My house is not that old however I didn’t know that there were other places that it could be found. I remember growing up in our old house and having the popcorn ceilings, I’m glad we didn’t live there long. Thank you for bringing awareness to this subject. I do a lot of remodeling of our house so it’s an important subject to know about.
