Ari Adams represents a shift in perspective. Platforms like Goop.com profile skinny blonde women free from children holding challenging yoga poses and drinking green juice. But that doesn’t reflect the reality of the diverse, vibrant, multi-cultural wellness community that is thriving and growing. Sales of organic food, for example, look just like America.
“While many people think the eco-wellness movement is just about flaunting privilege, I want people to understand that it’s about environmental justice for all,” says Ari Adams. “This is an exciting time for us because we get to create a NEW TABLE where more people are invited that impacts the health and wellness of everyone.”
Ari Adams hosts social media conference ShiftCon which will meet October 3-5, 2019 in Atlanta, GA. This female-led conference prizes itself in sparking and managing important wellness conversations online that have led to mass market change in healthy foods and consumer products. The community comprised of social media influencers, authors, scientists, doctors, dietitians, fitness professionals, activists and organic brands meets annually to network and refocus their efforts on activism online. They collectively reach over 10 MILLION people across the United States and Canada, publishing topics ranging from food, recipes, parenting, wellness, fitness, technology and social justice. From starting online petitions to affecting public policy, “Shifters” have been incredibly powerful in affecting real change. Founder, Leah Segedie, recently appointed Ari Adams to her position as CEO and Ari came onto the scene with immediate plans to grow the eco-wellness community in a new more inclusive direction.
“While many people think the eco-wellness movement is just about flaunting privilege, I want people to understand that it’s about environmental justice for all” says Ari Adams. “This is an exciting time for us because we get to create a NEW TABLE where more people are invited that impacts the health and wellness of everyone.”
Ari Adams is a first-generation American. Her parents are from Liberia & Lebanon. Eastern medicine, natural products, and organic food are something that’s been part of her life since she was a little girl. Her family in Liberia owns palm tree and rubber farms. As a young girl she remembers Liberian dishes and natural products like tooth powder. The practices of the eco-wellness community mirror what she grew up with. So having the ability to bring more diversity to ShiftCon really excites her. And her blog, Love Peace & Tiny Feet, reflects these eco-friendly traditions. On her site, she covers things like recipes that cherish the foods of her Liberian heritage, DIY personal care recipes like soap and deodorant and entertainment. If you are into movies, she also covers Disney junkets, mostly Marvel like Black Panther and Avengers. But that is not all. Ari Adams was a power player before she became ShiftCon CEO. She also presently leads the Metro Atlanta Bloggers Club which comprises over 1,000 influencers in Atlanta, Georgia. Combining forces in Atlanta will make this community a power to be reckoned with in the future. And her new role as ShiftCon CEO makes her the perfect person to take the eco-wellness community to the next level.
This year, the theme of ShiftCon is environmental justice. She expands, “It’s about changing the laws and systems in place that are further widening the gap between certain communities…It’s such an important topic because it affects ALL communities, but yet certain communities have been overlooked and downright left out of the conversation. This is the shift we need to make in 2019 and I’m ready to lead the charge.”
The purpose of the ShiftCon community is ultimately to change the grocery store one brand at a time. As Shifters promote better products, people purchase better products and other brands change their ingredients and processing to catch up with a wellness-savvy consumer. And thus, the ShiftCon community is the ultimate cornerstone of citizens voting with their dollar. And influencers voting with every share. Leah Segedie, Founder of Mamavation, also founded the ShiftCon Social Media Community. And today she is happy to support the efforts of Ari Adams in order to take it to the next level.
“Ari Adams is the perfect person to lead ShiftCon into the future,” says ShiftCon founder Leah Segedie. “I can’t think of anyone who could be more exciting than her!”
And the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
Ari says, “Right now, we are facing certain issues such as a lack of transparency in the information being shared with the public, a lack of affordable organic & safe alternatives for the typical family, and particularly, a lack of diversity and representation in the industry. It’s highly unfortunate that such basic things as healthy food, non-toxic ingredients, etc. are considered “privileged.” And I’ll be the first to agree that they absolutely are! There are communities where families struggle to just put food on the table, much less worry about whether or not it’s non-GMO food or certified organic or grass-fed beef or whatever. And there’s a real tragedy in this whole system. The notion that if you are not wealthy, you somehow don’t deserve the option to protect your family’s health and well-being, to eat real food, or not be subject to environmental triggers and toxic air is an incredible tragedy.”
Mamavation is excited about the new leadership of ShiftCon Social Media Conference. If you are a blogger or represent a brand or non-profit, tickets are available at ShiftConMedia.com for purchase. And prices for tickets are on sale through October 1st.
Shift Happens. Be a part of it!
This is an exciting time for us because we get to create a NEW TABLE where more people are invited that impacts the health and wellness of everyone.
